Paws & Stay Bark & Breakfast opened in 2016 with the mission of providing enriching dog day camp adventures, stress free dog boarding and convenient home shuttle services. We are a home based facility that is passionate about treating every dog as a unique individual with their own set of unique needs and concerns.
We truly believe in the philosophy of quality over quantity and you and your dog will never be just another number lost in the pack. Our membership only program is structured to preserve our limited occupancy and continue to provide our personalized attention.
With our second family atmosphere and our unique structure, your dog is truly treated as one of our own.
Kyle and Matt Wheeler here, Owners of Paws & Stay Bark & Breakfast. We are excited for the chance to get to know you and your best friend!
The dream of a bark & breakfast started back in 2011 when we adopted our first dog Dewy together and needed to find a place that he was comfortable with. At the time, we were living in Texas and after an exhaustive search and hours of driving to that perfect spot, we jokingly vowed to one day own a small ranch and never have to search for boarding or daycare we trusted again.
In the following 5 years, Matt held down the fort for us while I (Kyle) was fortunate enough to pursue my love of dogs and gain extensive experience in the animal care field. I worked for the Austin Humane Society in a variety of positions, followed by a small private veterinary practice where I was able to refined my technical skills. We then completed our move from Texas back to the beautiful PNW and I worked at a 100+ dog per day daycare facility as well as an independent dog walker in the Portland suburbs for another years . After spending so many years soaking up everything I could about dogs from healthcare to behavior, we felt equipped for the task ahead. In 2016, Kyle had a health scare that opened our eyes to how fast life goes and so we decided to take the plunge and go for it. We sold our house in Portland that we had only been in for a year and moved to the countryside - Paws & Stay was born!
We hope this website provides you with as much information as you need to make an informed choice about the important decision of who to trust with your best friend. If we have missed anything and you have additional questions please reach out - we would love the opportunity to address concerns.

Deputy in Charge
Dewy Dimplegrin here, Deputy in Charge at Paws & Stay. Dads found me back in 2012 when I was about 4 years old. I was adopted through the Austin Humane Society and then found as a stray 4 years later. Dad Kyle was working for them when I was returned there and I instantly stole his heart. I have had the pleasure of going to many playgroups through Dad's work and I may be big and intimidating but I am a truly gentle soul. They call me Deputy Dewy for a reason - I just wanna sit back and make sure the group gets along peacefully. Rest assured, your best friends will be safe under my watchful eye.
Well, hello there....
My name is Delshad (Dell-shawd) and I am the International Ambassador here. In Farsi, my name means "cheerful" or "happy heart" and I have certainly lived up to it. I spent the first 5 months of my life in Iran which is where I lost my front leg. I crossed paths with Dads through their volunteer work with a wonderful group called Kindred Hearts Transportation Connection who helped the sweet people of Mazandaran Rescue Team get me out of Iran. Everyone is always concerned I may get injured or not keep up with only three legs, but I have never let it stop me from being the craziest dog on the ranch! I've seen a lot so far and I just turned a year old, but that just means I have some cool stories for all our slumber parties!
Welcome Committee Queen
Dinky Doodlebug here, official Welcoming Committee Queen! I have been with Dads since I was born in 2014. My mom was found by a group called Forgotten Friends Mix Breed Rescue while she was pregnant with me! Dad Kyle worked closely with them during his time in a private practice and even got to help with my delivery! I grew up with my extra-big big brother Dewy so I know how to play ruff and tumble with the big dogs if necessary. I'll be sure to get your pups to chase me as much as I can while they are here. I really love to run and be chased!
Senior Activities Coordinator
Hello there, Ella here!
I was originally born in Indiana where I was adopted by a lovely couple. Over the following decade we moved to Oregon, had a kid that loves me to pieces and went on many great adventures. As tends to happen as we get older though, I started to need a little more quiet time, rest and relaxation…. something that is hard to come by with youngins around. My family made the admirable decision to let me come and spend my golden years out here at the ranch with their friends Kyle & Matt. As the Senior Activities Coordinator I hope to help accommodate the needs of some of our older clientele and look forward to making sure our special considerations are taken into account. Don’t let this white face fool you though - I still like to boogie, even at 15!
